Lawn in the spring to repair the damage in winter
After the last snows and frosts are gone, you must perform regular lawncare to ensure you have a beautiful lawn next summer. When you look at your lawn in spring it may be difficult to visualize as it was the height of her beauty for the last time you mowed in the fall. However, this task is not as hard as you may think.
The first thing you have to do in the spring to start taking care of your lawn is to remove all debris which may have accumulated During the winter season. Once you remove the roots, you can be fairly sure that weeds do not grow back. Find a thatched roof. If it is lower half, so it does not really pose a problem. However, if you find that a lot of thatch, and there are brown spots on lawn remove thatch, aerate the soil and water before planting new seeds.
Aeration is to prick holes in the ground at intervals scheduled to allow the oxygen to reach the ground. These holes also allow water to reach the grass roots and seedlings that you plant. You must ventilate all the soil from the lawn to make sure that when you do water it, the benefit of roots water and it evaporates not only on the surface.
In spring, you have to water the ground – a lot. This is not bad if you had much snow or rain, since most of this water does not go deep into the soil. Experts recommend that you add about 5 inches of water the lawn when you begin to prepare for spring. This is particularly necessary if you salt any sidewalks or driveways or if your lawn is near the street where the salt has been applied for de-icing purposes during the winter. Even if you do not apply directly the lawn, you will not find transported by wind and spray vehicles. The water is to desalinate the soil.
Add fertilizer ground in small doses. You should also do so at regular intervals to supplement the nutrients the grass needs to grow.
