Antiquity of Vedic civilization, the Great Flood
Antiquity of Vedic culture
The great deluge
Some things or events occurs, which gets embedded in the memory of not one person but of the whole race or population and that information is passed from one generation to another and become a legend. One of these events was severe flooding which has been rooted in the memory of mankind in a large scale as it appears from various legends, not only of India, but also from different parts of the world. The legend of the flood is a memory of humanity as that is where the legends of tribes and civilizations, past and present, of Celtic in the north of India and also mentioned in the Old Testament. The mention of the great flood is also Vedas
I call this global catastrophe because of the geographical distribution of this legend. To be present in the legends of many civilizations and tribes, this disaster must have been on a large scale. While the great people from all parts of the world has been affected significantly, to find mention in their legends. Such a massive global disaster has not occurred in the 4500 years before present. Myths and legends about the flood huge, huge, catastrophic global longer seems to be a fact rather than fiction. Oldest written account of the flood just some of the Sumerian 3rd 4th millennia BC. In the Sumerian city of Nippur (located approximately 200 km south of Baghdad on the banks of the Euphrates). It has an archaeological excavation on a clay tablet and Heavy clay tablet that we have just experienced a very pious man named Zisudra. He was appointed by the Almighty, so we told him to build a huge ship and save humanity from impending disaster. According to the tablet, the gods were angry at the human race and their misdeeds and they arrived a conclusion that such an act of cleaning must be done. The good and pious people should be exempt from the trauma of such an act and therefore Zisudra has been chosen by the gods to save humanity. Zisudra had a vision that such a catastrophic deluge that will come and he should make a huge seed boat and take with him the next civilization, flora and fauna so that he can oversee the rebirth of Eden once again. In the Epic Gilgamesh legend of the flood is no different from the Sumerian legend.
Utnapishtim, the only man to survive the flood sent by the gods, had lived in the city of Shurrupak, where he was the god Ea. The city and the old gods and the goddess Ishtar caused the disorders among men and gods could not sleep for the noise. Then Enlil, god of earth, wind and air, said: "Let us lose the water in the world, and drown everybody. "The gods agreed, but EA has warned Utnpishtim of impending disaster in a dream and told him to build a ship, and take on board two of every creature. For seven nights the storm raged, until the world was covered in water.
In Finally, the boat ran aground on the summit of Mount NISIR. To check the water level, Utnapishtim released a dove and a swallow and a raven. When the raven did not return, Utnapishtim knew she had found a resting place and the waters were falling. Thank you in, it lit a fire to make a sacrifice gods. Enlil was furious when he smelled smoke, but wise intervened Ea, and Enlil makes Utnapishtim and his wife immortal, they are the ancestors of humanity whole.
The legend of the flood is so similar to the Greeks. It goes something like this —- From his throne in high Olympos, Zeus looked down at the children of men, and saw that wherever they have only followed their passions, careless of law or the law. And always Like their hearts waxed gross in their wickedness, they envisioned for themselves new rituals to appease the anger of the gods, until the whole earth was filled with blood. Far from hiding in the valleys of the hills of Arcadia's son entertained Lykaon proud words and spoke against the majesty Zeus, and Zeus himself came down from his throne to see their way and their doings. Then Zeus returned home on Olympus, and he gave the floor the flood water should be dropped onto the earth, the son of man can die for their great wickedness. Thus, the west wind has increased its power, and the dark rain clouds shrouded the whole sky, as the northerly winds that drove the mists and vapors have been enclosed in their home in prison. On the hill and valley began the merciless rain and rivers, detached from their course, rushed to the Plains and the whole mountainside. From his home in the highlands of Phtia, Deucalion looked at the sky in anger, and when he saw the swelling waters in the valleys below, he called Pyrrha his wife, and said: "The time has come for my father, the wise Prometheus, I warned. Prepare, therefore, the ark I have built, and place in it all that we may need to feed while the flood waters on earth. "The Pyrrha hastened to make all things ready, and they waited until the waters rose to the highlands of Phthia and floated off the ark of Deucalion. The fish swam in among old elm groves and gnarled branches twist among the oaks, while on the face of the waters were thrown the bodies of men, and looked Deukalion on the faces of the dead warriors brave, young girls and small children as they ascended and descended on the heavy waves.
The Chaldean deluge myth is very close to the Old Testament. In this legend, even the size of the huge vessel was delighted. The myth says this —- After the death of Ardatis his xon Xisuthrus reigned eighteen sari. In his time happened a great flood, whose history is described as follows: The Cronos deity appeared to him in a vision, and warned that from the fifteenth day of the month Desius there would be a flood by which mankind would be destroyed. He therefore enjoined him to write a history of early, procedure, and conclusion of all things and bury it in the city of Soleil Sippara: and build a ship and take with him in his friends and relations, and pass on board everything necessary to sustain life, with all different animals, birds and quadrupeds, and trust without fear into the abyss. Having asked the deity when he was leaving, he replied: "The gods" on which he offered a prayer for the good of humanity. He then obeyed the divine warning, and built a vessel five stadia long and two wide. Ito has put this all he had prepared, and the last of all converging towards her his wife, his children and his friends. After the deluge had been on the earth, and was decreased over time, Xisuthrus birds sent the ship, which is not finding food, or any place which they could rest their feet, came back again. After a period of days, he sent a second time, and they now return with their feet tinged with mud. He did a trial a third time with these birds, but they returned to him no more: from where he found that the surface of the earth was appeared over the waters. So he made a hole in the ship, and watching it was found stranded on the side of a mountain, which he immediately left with his wife, his daughter and the pilot. Xisuthrus then paid his adoration of the earth, and after having built an altar, offered sacrifices to the gods.
The very effort to talk about all these legends of floods in this section has only one reason and that is to impress upon my readers the striking similarities of these legends, although these stories are from different geographical regions. Legend Noah's Ark in the Old Testament is not different from the foregoing legends discussed. In India, we have two Flood legends The first is a pious king named Manu. This story appears in satapata bhraman. HYPERLINK \ l "l \ toHYPERLINK
Once long ago a pious king named Manu was washing. When he arrived in the water jar to wash hands, he pulled a small fish.
The Fish told him, saying: "If you take care of me and protect me until I'm growing, I'll save you from terrible things to come. "Manu has asked the fish," What do you mean? What terrible things? "The fish told Manu that there would soon be a great flood that destroyed every human being on earth. Fish then asked Manu to place it in a clay pot for safety, and Manu met. As the fish grew, Manu kept the place in a series of large clay jars until the fish has been fully developed and could be stored safely in the sea Soon, the fish became Ghashir, one of the largest fish in the world.
The fish charged Manu to build a large boat, that the flood was now only a few months. As the rainy season has begun, Manu tied a rope form his ship to Ghashir, who safely guided the water was rising. The water was so strong that the whole earth was covered. As the waters subsided, Manu tour Ghashir the top of a mountain.
The second legend tells of a pious man named Satyabrata. (The name is the one who always tells the truth). several centuries after the creation of the world, Brahma decided to destroy it with the flood, because of the wickedness of the people. He was then living a pious man named Satyavrata, and as the Lord of the universe like this pious man, and wishes to preserve sea of destruction that would arise because of the depravity of the age, he appeared before him in the form of Vishnu and said, in seven days from the moment the world will be plunged into a sea of death, but amid the waves destroying a large ship, sent by me for your present himself before you. Then you take all the herbs, the variety of foods, and accompanied by seven saints, surrounded by pairs of all animals raw you fix it with a great sea serpent on my horn, because I want to be beside you, pull the boat with you and your servants. I'll stay on the ocean, the Chief O men, until one night of Brahma is completely finished. You may know my true size, rightly called the Supreme Deity; by my side, all your questions should be answered, and your spirit in abundance loaded.
The common factor in this legend, Sumer to India and Europe is baffling. If Zisudra, Utnaphistim Zeus Xisusthrus (note the phonetic similarity with that of Zisudra), Manu Satyabrata and the same person? Or are they different people of the same civilization, which has managed to escape the deluge and began a great civilization news where ever they saw the earth and therefore the name of the person has changed but the story remained the same. The flood actually take place? If so what was the extent of the flood and where did it happen? These are all the question that must be probed. The myth of the great flood is not limited to a few mentioned in this document, in fact there are many, many more. They can be classified as follows:
• 59 North American Indian legends against flooding
• 46 Central and South American Indian against flooding legends
• 31 flood legends in Europe
• 17 Middle East and African flood legends
• 23 against the floods in Asia legends
• 37 Pacific Islands and Australia Aboriginal flood legends
All these myths have little in common: \ HYPERLINK
A flood in the world of events that have destroyed man and animals
There was a boat, a huge boat, the dimensions also mentioned in the myth.
A vestige of very few people have survived
Finally resting on a mountain
Birds to be released and not return
Birds to be released and back with something
I will now try to give my readers some evidence of such a devastating flood that took place and its possible timetable. The evidence first and most compelling is the fact that this myth is widespread in any culture, but despite the balanced geographical presence dogma and varied cultural similarities are all the same, but. There was an article in the Sunday Times dated 29/09/1999 that I quoted here verbatim for my readers.
"Convincing evidence that there was a great flood, as told in the history of the Old Testament of the Ark of Noah was found well below the waters of the Black Sea by an American expedition.
Land-diving, led by Robert Ballard, renowned oceanographer who found the Titanic and other sunken ships of the 20th century, have discovered an ancient coastline at a depth of 450 Mr.
"I'm not sure whether Noah's flood or not Noah's flood, but I do not buy there was a flood" said David Mindell, one of the surveyors.
Ballard's team worked from a theory of the flood Biblical antiquity proposed by two marine geologists from Columbia University in New York, William Ryan and Walter Pittman, in their new book, Noah's flood, revised Scribe No. 71, page 3.
As Dr. Ballard said: "During the last great ice advance of glaciers across the earth's surface. That lowered the sea level 400ft. Then 12,000 years ago at the end of the Ice Age, glaciers have begun to retirement.
Thanks to its low level of the sea, the eastern Mediterranean was cut off from the Black Sea so that when the oceans began to rise, the Black Sea did not.
Dr Ballard continued: "Around 7600 years ago, guess what Password? Mediterranean breaks through a natural dam of the Bosporus and the catastrophic floods of the land surface. People who live there are 400ft below sea level and difficulty. They face a flood equal to 10,000 Niagara Falls. "
This flood was on a scale much larger than the one described in Genesis, which lasted 40 days and 40 nights, covering all life on Earth under 24ft of water other than Noah, his family and pairs of animals to safety on the ark.
In the new theory, it is estimated that every day for two ten age cubic miles of seawater through the channel of the expansion of the Bosphorus, which ran in what was then a freshwater lake, which raises the level of six inches a day.
The incoming salt water is denser than fresh water it displaced, plunged to the bed of the lake, turning it into a sea where the depths support no life.
This gray area is known as an inert abyss that is anoxic, This means that the trapped water could not circulate and has lost its oxygen, "Such conditions do not exist anywhere else in the world," said Dr. Ballard.
The theory assumes that for vessels of this dead zone will be kept intact wood, perhaps with their sails Bronze Age, and waiting for Dr. Ballard and his team. Explorers convinced that there can be many ships on the bottom because the Black Sea served as important commercial waterway.
Dr. Ballard has participated in expeditions on the high seas 120. He found two Phoenician ships more 3,000 years.
Fredrik Hiebert of the University of Pennsylvania, chief archaeologist of the team, said the "discovery represents the first concrete evidence for occupation of the Black Sea coast before the flood. "
"This is a major discovery that will begin to rewrite the history of culture in this key area between Europe, Asia and the Ancient Near East " Hiebert said.
The remains of human habitation have been found in more than 300 feet of water about 12 miles off the coast of Turkey. "
According to Professor Mace, Of all the flood myths is interested in the Hindu myth where In particular, the myth describes an alignment of the five bright planets this happened only once in the last 5000 years. Thus, we not start getting any time on the big flood. It is from 7500BC 5000BC. In 2004, during a conference of geologists, astronomers, archaeologists, Mass has presented evidence of a ravaged world impact in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Ted Bryant, a geomorphologist University of Wollongong in New South Wales, Australia, was intrigued and asked the help of Dallas Abbott, an assistant professor the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory at Columbia University. In 2005, they formed the Holocene Impact Working Group (referring to geological period covering 11,000 years) to investigate the geological signature of a giant tsunami. If a wave toll 600-meters top of a hill, it should leave a large amount of debris behind. In the case of waves generated by asteroid impacts, The debris they leave in their wake is assumed to be gigantic, wedge-shaped sand structures known as chevrons are sometimes packed with microfossils, deep dredged by the tsunami.
When Abbott began to search for satellite imagery on Google Earth, she saw dozens of rafters and along continental coasts in Africa and Asia. The shape and size of these chevrons indicate they may have been formed by waves from the impact of a comet slamming into the deep ocean off Madagascar. The chevrons in Madagascar associated with the crater were filled microfossils melted from the bottom of the ocean. There is no explanation for their presence to others of a cosmic impact, "she said. "People will have start taking this theory much more seriously. The next step is to make carbon-14 dating of the fossils to see if they are indeed 5,000 years. Meanwhile, Bryant says rafters found (pdf) 4 miles inland from the coast of Madagascar have been trained by a wave that traveled 25 miles on Along the coast, moving almost parallel to the shore. "Neither erosion nor any other Earth processes could have caused these formations. The largest marine landslides ever happened 7,200 years ago off the coast of Norway, and there was a tsunami, but it was far from leaving deposits 200 meters, "said Bryant.
The Great Flood was a very rare event and singular. Because of the magnitude of the destruction, he would have left an indelible and permanently on the minds of any survivors. This story was told and retold from generation to generation. And it was so. What could have caused such an event etched in his memory the people of world. This event should be really great. It is now appropriate to mention here the work of Plato at this stage – Timaeus and Critias. Here, Plato describes a paradise called Atlantis, which has suddenly disappeared from the face of the earth. He described about an intelligent civilization that lived in this beautiful paradise. The two accounts, Timaeus and Critias, describing:
A pre-flood civilization.
God's decision to destroy humanity because of his wickedness.
The destruction of civilization by a great flood.
The suddenness of the disaster.
The extent of destruction that affects the entire planet.
According to Plato, the island of Atlantis and the Mediterranean civilizations distant were completely destroyed in a single day and night of violent earthquakes and floods. They disappeared in the depths of the sea, and according to Plato, the flood occurred around 11,400 years ago. (The account records the event happen 9000 years from the time of Plato. Plato's dialogues have been written around 360 BC) which would make the pre-Flood civilization civilization Ice Age.
A global catastrophe of the proportions can occur only when there is an impact by a comet or asteroid. An impact on the atmosphere, commonly called a bolide airburst or is another type of impact event. Tunguska Impact is an example of a strong meteor event. Another type of impact is an impact Ice Age. Such an impact could produce effects in the biblical Great Flood.
A comet / asteroid impact on a large glacier mass could cause the following effects:
Output of large quantities of heat.
Producing massive earthquakes.
Produce superheated steam trap which exerts a force of lifting and moving a large mass of ice.
Fracture ice sheets.
Ejecting water vapor and ice high in the atmosphere.
Release potential energy stored.
Produce a partial melting glacial ice.
Producing an almost immediate increase in sea level.
Produce high rainfall.
Slowly, driving deep ocean crust.
By slowly increasing the continental crust higher.
Produce volcanoes and lava flows.
The impact of a large comet / asteroid (diameter ~ 2 mile) with a sheet of Ice Age glacier could produce the chain of events:
The impactor passes through miles of thick ice, like a bullet. Beneath the surface, impact releases the energy of a million nuclear bombs. A bubble of gas trapped forms of superheated steam. The water vapor causes a general increase in the glacial ice sheet. The ice stands as a boiler Steam about to burst. The gas bubble exerts tremendous force on the ice flow. The impact triggers the release of energy potential locked up in ice flow to millions of tons to pull away and start moving on the bed without fluid friction to the oceans. Some steam escapes as a geyser or volcano eruption. The sheet of ice fractures, fission opening for steam to escape. Boiling water steam and other lubricating the surface boundary layer of ice flow. The explosion threw large masses of ice fragments in the air with great force. Ice and water flowing from the continent cause an immediate increase in sea level in accordance with the theory of displacement. The superheated steam released falls on Earth, producing very violent storms. Heavy rains fell for several days and weeks. Atmosphere warms. Large earthquakes combined with a rebound of the crust from the movement of large ice sheets exert significant pressure on tectonic plates. The strain is relieved by the eruption of volcanoes and lava flows in the world. expose underwater earthquakes frozen beds methane hydrate. The heat generated on impact and heat of underwater volcanoes and lava flows to raise the temperature of the bottom oceans and melting of methane hydrate exposed. The methane bubbles released at the surface, where the time it is lit by lightning, This also raises atmospheric temperatures. Methane burning releases large amounts of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Finally account, the Global temperature increases significantly, breaking the back of the Ice Age. This part determines the ball and the earth plunges into the cycle destruction till the land and its dynamics slows down dramatically. Then, the climate stabilizes again. The oceans, seats, rivers begin their restoration actions.
In India, there is also strong evidence of this global disaster. Mahabharat about the Dwarka below. For centuries, local fishermen on the coast of Mahabalipuram in India estimated that a great flood consumed a city of more than 10,000 years in a single day. This story was recorded by the British explorer J. Goldingham, who visited the region in 1798. The legend says that there were six temples submerged under water, with the seventh temple still standing on the shore. Now, the author Graham Hancock thinks he has found.
"I long regarded Mahabalipuram, because of its flood myths and fishermen's sightings as a very likely place in which discoveries of structures submarine could be done, and I proposed a dive expedition to be undertaken there, "said Hancock.
In April, he made a diving expedition to the region, in collaboration with British society for scientific exploration and India, the Institute National Oceanography. The SES said, "a joint expedition of 25 divers from the Scientific Exploration Society and India, the Institute National Oceanography led by Monty Halls and accompanied by Graham Hancock, have discovered a large area with a series of structures that clearly show man made attributes, at a depth (16-23 feet) off the coast of Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu. The extent of the submerged ruins, covering several square miles and at distances up to one mile from the coast, it ranks as a major marine archaeological discovery as spectacular the ruined cities submerged off Alexandria in Egypt. "
The NIO said: "A team of underwater archaeologists National Institute of Oceanography NIO have successfully found evidence of submerged structures off Mahabalipuram and established the first proof of the popular belief the shore temple of Mahabalipuram is the remnant of a series of seven total of these temples were built that flooded in the estate. The discovery was made during a joint underwater exploration with the Scientific Exploration Society, UK "
"Between 17,000 years ago and 7000 years ago, at the end of the last Ice Age, terrible things happened in the world of our ancestors lived in Hancock said. "Ice caps on the northern Great Europe and North America melted, huge floods ripped across the earth, the sea level increased by more than (325 feet) and about (15 million square miles) of formerly habitable lands were swallowed by the waves. "
In addition to exploring deep diving, ancient underwater structures have also been discovered from space. The satellite imagery NASA have revealed a mysterious ancient bridge in the Palk Straits between India and Sri Lanka. The bridge was named Adam's Bridge and was created from a chain of shoals, about 18 miles long. It only shows that the curvature is artificial.
Archaeological studies reveal that the first human inhabitants of Sri Lanka came to the island around 1.75 million years ago and the bridge is about the same age. This is in line with a legend called Ramayana, which dates back over 1,700,000 years. In this epic, a bridge was built between Rameshwaram (India) and the coast of Sri Lanka under the supervision of the god Rama-like. It also gives us an idea of the antiquity of Vedic civilization. If Ramayana is a reality, the Vedic civilization is the civilization pre ice.
At the end of this article, I can only say that the myth universal human can be the first example of disaster reporting.
