Blockbuster Oil Candle Making Tips That Will Make You Forget Candle Making Wax
Making candles from wax is fun, but did you know that there is such a thing as oil candle making too? This is another form of candle making that now everyone thinks about. Some do think of an oil-filled container with a wick as being a candle. However, it is enough related to the traditional wax candle to be considered one.
All you need are the containers, wicks, and flammable oil. See the oil candle is simply the container of your choice with flammable oil in it with a wick in it. You have a wide choice of containers you can select, everything from jars to wine bottles. Just make sure the container won’t burn. The candles can be a magical source of light.
Many times you probably have a container already in the house that will work. You could even use a small tin if so chose to. A decorative bottle or left over wine bottle can be used too. Heck even a jelly jar could be filled with the oil for the candle.
Liquid paraffin oil is usually used for these candles but other oils could be utilized for this purpose. Vegetable oils and olive oil will burn too. So see you could already turn to your kitchen for some of the ingredients.
You can purchase oil candle wicks to use in these candles. Often times you also need to get a wick holders too for your container to hold the wick in place. There are special wicks and holders for wine bottles too.
You can add various things to your oil candles too. Marbles, fruit, flower petals, pebbles, and beads can be put into the container to enhance the look or even the aroma of the candle. For stronger scents though you can add fragrances while doing you oil candle making.
So choose your container and fill it almost full of oil leaving around ½ inch at the top. Then install your wick unless you are going to decorate. Decorate or add scents before installing wick if you are going to do either one. The wick should be at least ½ inch above the wick holder and should be centered. The wick will need a bit for the oil to penetrate it. Then you are ready to light it and enjoy its soft light.
The oil candle making process turns out candles that will burn for many hours. Then as the oil is depleted you only need to replace the oil. You will need to replace the wicks from time to time too. You just keep doing this to enjoy these candles.
Now these are so easy to do you are probably going to do one as soon as you can. The light they give off is wonderfully soft and romantic. Well worth the small amount of effort to make. The variety of kinds that you can make is limited only by your creative ability. Enjoy your original oil candle that you have created.

Hand blown glass oil lamps and candle holders?
Quite a few years ago I started collecting specific blown glass candle holders and oil lamps, they are tie dye in color and very thin glass. I have been unable to find anymore of them in many years and was wondering if anyone had any idea where to find some online so I can expand my collection.
